GEO Broadcast Solutions' charter is to innovate and bring to market technologies that help radio broadcasters maximize their signal and grow revenues. MaxxCasting will expand the coverage area of a FM signal. ZoneCasting, pending FCC approval, will provide technology to geographically target radio advertisements. These emerging technologies give broadcasters tools to compete in the face of innovations internet and cellular message distribution.
GeoBroadcast Solutions, LLC ("GBS"), formed in 2009 by founders who collectively have 100's of years in the radio business. Peter Handy, Chris Devine, Rick Bonick and Bill Hieatt (with the help of John Kean and others) developed and tested the GBS ZoneCasting technology. GBS ZoneCasting will be filing a petition for rulemaking with the Federal Communications Commission seeking its approval and then bringing this product to market. A petition for rulemaking can be a laborious process but with the support of those within the industry, we believe we can expedite a successful approval. In 2012, GBS identified and launched MaxxCasting, the technology that helps broadcasters cover more of their signal coverage area. Both of these technologies are innovative, exciting and revenue generating.
GBS has a strong and essential strategic partnership with GatesAir Corporation, the largest distributor of radio equipment in the world. GatesAir leads the industry in innovation and reliability. They are an integral part of the GBS team and we are proud to be working with them. GBS and GatesAir are determined to demonstrate how GBS's products will help drive significant revenue growth for stations across the country. Our technology will create an environment that will open up commercial availability to tens of thousands of new radio advertisers on an annual basis. Creating a service whereby local, regional and sometimes national advertisers can specifically target their most efficient selling zones has never been available. Furthermore, helping broadcasters reach more of their coverage area with MaxxCasting bring obvious benefits. Our proven technology now makes this function completely deliverable.
Radio remains dynamic and relevant media consumed by over 93% of the country's population. Given the abundance of new media choices, radio's total population penetration is extraordinary. Yet while the core of the radio business remains stable, the historical revenue growth patterns have been below everyone's expectations.
