Stingray to Deploy First GBS MaxxCasting™ Systems in Canada,

Expanding Audience Coverage in Key Markets

Henderson, NV, April 20, 2022 – Stingray  is partnering with US-based GeoBroadcast Solutions to launch the first Canadian deployments of its MaxxCasting™ system to increase the signal quality and audience reach of its stations by delivery significant increase in population coverage..

Montreal-based Stingray (TSX: RAY.A; RAY.B) operates more than 100 radio stations across Canada, reaching 7.5 million listeners every week. With the deployment of MaxxCasting, signal enhancements can reach growing neighborhoods in the country’s largest cities and smallest towns coast-to-coast from Vancouver to St. John’s.

“Our biggest challenge has been broadcasting into areas within the predicted contour that the signal wasn’t covering,” said Chris Maclaurin, Engineering Director at Stingray. “Our engineering consultants, Octave Communications, introduced us to the MaxxCasting solution and we are excited to strike this partnership and be able to be the first in Canada to deploy the system and address coverage improvements in the cities we serve.”

Octave’s President Francois Guathier said, “Our long-term relationship with Stingray and understanding of what they needed to reach more listeners led to our recommendation that MaxxCasting would be the best solution to further its signal to the outlying suburbs of the city.”

“Most FM radio stations have areas their signal can’t cover due to terrain, urban buildings, and adjacent channel interference; and Stingray’s stations are no exception,” said Paul Littleton, director of Spectrum Design at GeoBroadcast Solutions. “MaxxCasting enables broadcasters to overcome many signal limitations, expand the populations served, improve ratings, and increase revenues. We are honored to work with Stingray and Octave to help extend their reach and improve the listening experience throughout Canada.”

MaxxCasting combines radio and cellular technology with patented designs that enable FM Broadcasters to enhance their signals with the deployment of a strategically located cluster of low to the ground, highly directionalized synchronized booster sites.  MaxxCasting allows broadcasters to deliver robust, easy to receive signals that reach a broader portion of their service area and supports the accurate decoding of Nielsen PPM watermark to aid in accurate audience measurement.

 About GeoBroadcast Solutions LLC

GeoBroadcast Solutions was formed in 2011 to develop the ZoneCasting™ Geo-Targeting platform.  This platform has been successfully tested under special FCC authorization. Geo-Targeted separation of the main channel audio of an FM radio station to its listeners allows the ability to split an FM signal into local “zones.” Out of this development effort came MaxxCasting™, which increases signal quality, PPM watermark decoding, and allows geographic targeting and fencing of radio screen advertising. It is successfully deployed and operational in many markets and growing rapidly. Additional information is available at geobroadcastsolutions.com.
