Four Additional Broadcasters File for Geo-Targeting Boosters,
Expanding the Reach of ZoneCasting™ Technology
CHICAGO, August 26, 2024 – GeoBroadcast Solutions (GBS) is pleased to announce four additional broadcasters have filed applications with the FCC to deploy ZoneCasting™ technology. These stations represent a diverse array of markets, formats and communities, all eager to leverage the benefits of hyper-local content delivery to better serve their audiences and advertisers.
The FCC’s new Program Origination via FM Broadcast Booster Stations rules, which took effect on May 16, 2024, provide broadcasters with the ability to offer geo-targeted programming and advertising in specific areas of their coverage, revolutionizing the traditional radio broadcasting model.
The second wave of “launch stations” underscores the growing enthusiasm for ZoneCasting, as broadcasters see the immense potential of this technology to create more localized, community-focused content and advertising.
WKTT 97.5 Salisbury, Ocean City MD
WKTT, known for its "Everything Urban" format, is poised to become an integral voice in the local community with the implementation of geo-targeting technology to customize content for the Princess Anne community, where nearly 80% of the population is African American.
"WKTT is eager to provide targeted community information and advertising that truly speaks to Princess Anne residents,” said Ron Banks, Morning Personality and Owner of RoJo Broadcasting. “This is an exciting opportunity to offer members of the United States Black Chamber of Commerce an effective, cost-efficient way to reach their audience through customized ads."
KPKL 107.1 Spokane, WA
Bob Anthony Fogal, owner of KPKL, is excited about the expanded coverage and targeting capabilities his station will achieve through the deployment of a hybrid MaxxCasting and ZoneCasting system.
"This new technology provides us with the tools we need to better compete with large multi-station clusters in the area,” said Fogal. “KPKL is looking forward to reaching more listeners with our popular KOOL Oldies format and offering advertisers more targeted options to connect with their current and prospective customers."
WEIB 106.3 Springfield, MA
Carol Cutting, CEO of Cutting Edge Broadcasting and a long-time member of the NABOB board, is eager to expand her station’s signal and provide customized content for smaller, independent businesses.
"ZoneCasting will give WEIB the ability to offer affordable, targeted advertising to vital local businesses, particularly US Black Chamber members in the greater Springfield, Massachusetts area,” said Cutting. “This technology allows us to serve our communities with content that matters, while providing advertisers a more cost-effective way to engage with their audience."
KAFF Flagstaff, AZ
KAFF will leverage the technology to provide geo-targeted content for the Sedona, AZ area and better serving the thriving Native American community within their coverage area.
"With ZoneCasting, we can bring more relevant content to Sedona while ensuring the voices of the Native American community are heard,” said Roger Anderson, owner of KAFF through licensee Flagstaff Radio, Inc. “This is a huge step forward in making our station a more impactful part of the region."
With the addition of these four stations, ZoneCasting applications now span 12 stations in 9 markets across the United States, marking a major milestone in the rollout of this transformative technology.
"We’re thrilled to see such diverse and community-focused stations adopt geo-targeting technology," said a GBS spokesperson. "These broadcasters are showcasing how radio can evolve to serve specific geographic communities with more relevant content and create new revenue opportunities for local businesses. ZoneCasting provides a unique ability to deliver targeted messaging, and we’re excited to support these stations as they roll out this innovative technology."
