Because the majority of broadcast radio listening happens in the car, we focus on traffic analytics for the Geo-Fencing aspect of MaxxCasting™️ and ZoneCasting™️. For text and graphical messaging, carrier-to-interference (C/I+N) curves are developed for digital signals- both RBDS and HD Radio- in the GBS Lab in Chicago and in our Broadcast partners networks. Analog FM audio Geo-Fencing performance has already clearly been developed, tested, and deployed by GBS in the ZoneCasting™️ trials.
This platform has been successfully tested under special FCC authorization. There is now a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) at the FCC which would allow full time Geo-Targeted separation of the main channel of an FM radio station to its listeners. This ability to split an FM signal into local “zones” has gathered exceptional industry support.
RBDS automobile text Geo-Targeting, which does not need FCC authorization, is using MaxxCasting systems as the backbone to deploy screen advertising. Testing with WXLO in the Boston MA area is underway.
