This distinguished group will play a crucial role in advising GBS leadership on innovations and market technologies that help radio broadcasters better serve their local communities, grow revenues and expand the sustainability of radio.

The Co-Chairs of the GeoBroadcast Solutions National Advisory Board are David Honig, President Emeritus and Senior Advisor for the Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council (MMTC), and Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA).

The members of the National Advisory Board include:

  • Tish Bazil, Senior Advisor to Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis

  • Ryan McGinness, Senior Vice President at R&R Partners

  • Steve Roberts, CEO and Founder Roberts Radio Broadcasting Company

  • A respected member from the financial community

Additionally, the Senior Advisors of the National Advisory Board include:

The mission of the National Advisory Board is to advise GBS on implementing innovative broadcast technologies that help radio broadcasters deliver geo-targeted content. The board will focus on ensuring that communities, particularly minority and underserved populations, are better served through customized messaging, emergency notifications and expanded public service broadcasting. Additionally, the board will help establish protocols for broadcasters to activate these systems nationwide, ensuring that small, minority-owned businesses can seize opportunities to broadcast relevant, localized content.

"We are pleased to present the inaugural members of the GBS National Advisory Board, whose leadership and expertise will help us drive forward the transformation of radio broadcasting," said a GBS spokesperson. "This esteemed group of advisors will ensure we remain responsive to the needs of diverse communities and help us establish best practices for deploying geo-targeting technology across the U.S."

GBS recently announced that ZoneCasting™ applications now span 10 markets across the United States, marking a major milestone in the rollout of this transformative technology. ZoneCasting enables radio stations to deliver hyper-local content tailored to specific geographic zones, offering a new level of engagement for advertisers and listeners alike. GBS is beginning activations, with the installation process already underway in Nevada.

The advisory board will help implement key initiatives, including ensuring that FM booster stations utilizing GBS technology follow best practices for delivering geo-targeted programming that meets the unique needs of local communities without disrupting the primary station’s signal. They will also work to advance public service messaging and emergency notifications, ensuring minority communities receive relevant and customized content. Additionally, the board will support efforts to provide minority-owned businesses with affordable and impactful advertising opportunities on local radio stations through geo-targeting technology.

These efforts, spearheaded by the National Advisory Board, are designed to create a lasting impact on the broadcast industry by ensuring that radio remains a vital, innovative and inclusive platform for communication.
