In Memoriam to Bill Hieatt
If there’s a legacy any of us would like to leave it might be the contribution we’ve made to our profession and the good of our industry and, subsequently, the public. Our colleague and close friend, Bill Hieatt III, passed on November 25 but the imprint he left on terrestrial radio will outlast all of us.
Bill was our Chief Technology Officer. He joined our fledgling team in 2010 and was a key technical developer and architect in the early stages of the company’s technology. Working closely with a squadron of consultants and industry experts, he was responsible for system architecture definition, network infrastructure design, Single Frequency Network (SFN) RF coverage/field measurements/model tuning, project management, intellectual property development, patent applications, field trials, customer presentations/webinars, system, and feature development.
Bill was originally from Dallas. He held a Bachelors and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington. He earned several MBAs including one from Florida International University. Bill had a variety of interests including bull riding in high school, martial arts and scuba diving.
We mourn our friend and colleague along with his family on his passing.
